Bobby Labonte Biography
A 32-time NASCAR race winner, Bobby Labonte is one of only four drivers in NASCAR’s history to win a championship in the top two tiers of the sport: winning an Xfinity Series Championship in 1991 and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2000. He then added the 2001 IROC Series Championship to his winning career. In 2020, Labonte received the highest honor in NASCAR when he was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Today, Labonte remains at the forefront of the racing scene. From 2022 to 2023, he raced full time in the SMART Modified Tour, bringing home 4 wins, and a partial schedule in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. His broadcasting career has continued to flourish as he makes regular appearances on FS1 as an analyst on the popular Race Hub and Race Day programs. Recently, Joe Gibbs Racing announced Labonte’s return to the family in a newly created role where he will represent the legacy of the organization alongside Coach Joe Gibbs, while working in a development role with up-and-coming drivers.
Labonte’s experience has extended well beyond American soil. As the All-American Race Car Driver, he has made appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Europe’s largest pre-season motorsports conference Autosport International. In 2018, Labonte also became the first NASCAR Champion to race a full season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.
From cycling to running, hiking to cross-country skiing, Labonte personifies health, fitness and performance and integrates technology into his training. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing and has appeared on numerous outdoor hunting and fishing television programs with the likes of Realtree and LL Bean.
Labonte is also a devoted philanthropist, launching the Bobby Labonte Foundation in 2003 to benefit local North Carolina organizations who help build stronger foundations for children and families through an annual grant program. The Bobby Labonte Foundation has donated nearly $1 million over the years.
Labonte has represented some of the biggest household brands in America and beyond, and his down-to-earth boy-next door personality makes him one of the most approachable and magnetic personalities in all of professional sports.
