Danielle Green Biography
Danielle is a native of Chicago and now resides in Florida with her 9-year-old son. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame where she earned a scholarship basketball and became the16th-leading scorer in program history. After a couple of years of teaching and coaching, she enlisted in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. In May of 2004, while patrolling on a rooftop in Iraq, she was injured by a rocket-propelled grenade causing her to lose her dominant left arm. Instead of spiraling into despair, Green allowed Wounded Warrior Project and communities all over the country to help her during her most vulnerable time.
Returning to Chicago, Green completed her master’s degree and started a new path in serving veterans with the Department of Veterans Affairs as a readjustment counselor. Her passion for serving others has led her to help countless people over the last 20 years. She’s counseled warriors in mental health, aided in veterans’ transition to civilian life, and now travels the country to share her powerful story. Green talks about building resiliency through adversity, choosing to move forward and developing mental fortitude. You will leave her talk inspired and wonder if you are making an impact in the world. In 2015, Green was recognized for her service when she received the Pat Tillman Award for Service ESPY awards.
