Eddie George Biography
Eddie George Jr. is a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Rookie of the Year who has excelled both on and off the football field. At Ohio State University, he won the Heisman Trophy in 1995 during his senior season, setting him up as a top prospect for the 1996 NFL Draft. He was selected 14th overall by the Houston Oilers, now known as the Tennessee Titans. During his NFL career, George was a standout player, capturing several franchise records for the Titans, including being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1996. He led the Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 and earned four consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 1998 to 2001. George retired in 2006, having amassed over 10,000 rushing yards while never missing a start. His number, #27, was retired by the Titans in honor of his contributions to the team.
Following his retirement, George has pursued multiple career paths including acting, entrepreneurship, and academia. He has appeared on Broadway, and made guest appearances in television shows like "Survivor." As an entrepreneur, he founded EGX Lifestyle and EDGE, companies focused on promoting healthy living and community planning. George is also pursuing an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, underlining his commitment to continuous personal and professional development. He hosts the radio show "Radio, By George!" and is actively involved in philanthropy through his non-profit organization, Visions with Infinite Possibilities (V.I.P).
Currently, George is the head football coach at Tennessee State University, where he applies his wealth of football knowledge and leadership skills to build a winning program. He is married to Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George, a Grammy-nominated singer from the group SWV, and they live in Tennessee with their two sons, Eriq and Jaire. Through his diverse endeavors, George continues to influence and inspire across various platforms, striving for excellence in every field he engages.
