Gary Gulman Biography

Gary Gulman's career in comedy took flight when he became a finalist on NBC's reality talent show "Last Comic Standing" in its second and third seasons. This propelled him into a series of successful endeavors that included starring in his own Comedy Central special "Gary Gulman: Boyish Man" in 2006 and performing stand-up on every major late-night television comedy program. Notable appearances include "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman," and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Additionally, Gulman was featured in Dane Cook's documentary series "Tourgasm," which premiered on HBO in 2006. He also made a guest appearance on season 4 of "Last Comic Standing."

Gulman's work in comedy continued to flourish with the release of several comedy specials. Among these were "The Great Depresh" on HBO in 2019 and "Born on Third Base," which premiered on Max in December 2023. His special "It's About Time" was released by Netflix in May 2016. Gulman also appeared as a fictionalized version of himself on HBO's "Crashing" and in HBO's four-part special of the "2 Dope Queens" podcast. His Comedy Central special "In This Economy" aired on December 8, 2012, adding another highlight to his portfolio.

Not only has Gulman carved out a successful career in comedy, but he has also used his platform to discuss his personal experiences with mental health. His HBO special "The Great Depresh" is a mix of documentary and stand-up comedy discussing his experiences with depression and recovery. Moreover, his first book "Misfit: Growing Up Awkward in the '80s," released on September 19, 2023, echoes similar themes. Gulman continues to tour, performing stand-up across the United States, and his comedy often delves into significant discussions on topics like depression, making his performances both engaging and impactful.
