Gina Rodriguez is an award-winning actress, producer, director, and humanitarian.
She is best known for her role as Jane Villanueva in The CW comedy-drama series "Jane the Virgin," for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2015. Rodriguez made her directorial debut in the show's fourth season, and the series concluded after five seasons in 2019.
Rodriguez's film credits are extensive, including roles in "Deepwater Horizon," the animated films "The Star" and "Ferdinand" (both of which received Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song), and more recent works like Catherine Hardwicke's "Miss Bala" and Netflix's "Someone Great." She also provided the voice for the titular character in the Netflix animated series "Carmen Sandiego."
Alongside her producing partner Emily Gipson, Rodriguez launched I Can & I Will Productions, which aims to promote diverse culture on screen. Their company has secured an overall deal with CBS Television Studios, under which they have already sold multiple projects.
Her dedication to humanitarian causes has been recognized with the Young Humanitarian Award by Unite 4:Humanity. Rodriguez established the We Will Foundation to support young women in the arts and serves on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. She actively supports several organizations including the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and Voto Latino, and has also partnered with Naja Lingerie to support its social impact initiatives.
