Gordon Korman Biography
Gordon Korman is a New York Times bestselling Canadian American author of more than 100 books for kids and teens. Korman's books have been translated into 32 languages and have sold over 35 million copies worldwide.
Korman’s writing career began virtually by accident when he was in 7th grade. The track and field coach had to teach English and for creative writing, he gave the class total freedom to work on whatever they wanted for the rest of the year. It was February. That added up to a class period per day for more than four months. The result was Korman’s first novel, “This Can’t Be Happening at MacDonald Hall.” He sent the manuscript to Scholastic because he was the class monitor for Scholastic book orders, and he figured that he was practically an employee. (His mom had to type my book for him.) It was published by Scholastic when he was a freshman in high school and thus began a prolific book writing career.
