Kira Dixon Biography
Kira Dixon (née Kazantsev) ascended to national prominence when she won Miss America 2015, becoming the third consecutive winner from New York. An advocate for a cause close to her heart, her platform during her reign was "Love Shouldn't Hurt": Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence. She further amplified this message by launching the #PutTheNailinIt campaign with Safe Horizon. Her innovative talent segment featured a unique percussion performance to "Happy" by Pharrell Williams using a red plastic cup.
Throughout her reign, Kazantsev was actively involved in numerous events, from being a presenter at the 42nd Annual American Music Awards and other music-related events to becoming the first Miss America in 35 years to travel with the United Service Organizations (USO) and visit troops abroad. She has also traveled nationwide, visiting schools in grades K-12 and youth summits to speak on STEM initiatives, nontraditional gender roles, anti-bullying, internet etiquette/safety, and mutual respect. Her commitment to service was also evident in her role as National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The Miss America Organization recognized her achievements, awarding her a $50,000 scholarship for law school.
After her reign, Kazantsev capitalized on her communication skills and public presence, launching a podcast named "What We Do" in 2017. She then transitioned into the field of sports reporting, joining Golf Channel as a reporter in 2021 and covering events throughout the PGA Tour season. Her reporting repertoire expanded in 2022, when she began covering US Swim Meets for NBC and in 2023 she reported for the FINA World Championships. At present, she holds the position of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals' Director of Digital Channels and Community Engagement.
