Marcus Scribner Biography
Marcus Scribner launched his acting career at the tender age of 10, making his first appearance on the ABC crime dramedy "Castle." Since his debut in 2010, Scribner's career has blossomed, leading him to secure notable roles in several popular television series and films. Perhaps most notably, he starred as Andre Johnson Jr. in the ABC sitcom "Black-ish," a role that garnered him the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth in 2016 and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2018. His success in "Black-ish" also led to his transition to its spin-off series, "Grown-ish," from its fifth season onward, where he served as the lead character and narrator until its completion in 2024.
In addition to his live-action work, Scribner has lent his voice to several animated series. He voices the character Bow in the Netflix animated series "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power," and D’Angelo Baker in the DreamWorks Peacock animated series "Dragons: The Nine Realms." In the realm of animated films, he voiced a character in the Pixar film "The Good Dinosaur." Scribner's versatility as an actor extends to the big screen as well. In 2023, he played a supporting role in the live-action film "How to Blow Up a Pipeline," marking his first film to have a wide release in theaters. He also took on a starring role in the thriller "Confessional." Dedicated to increasing representation in the entertainment industry, he founded Scribner Productions, which will adapt fantasy and sci-fi novels to elevate young Black voices.
A passionate humanitarian, Scribner travels the globe to give back to the people around him and the world. He serves as an ambassador for Defend Our Future, a project of the Environmental Defense Fund that is dedicated to empowering young people of all political persuasions interested in advancing climate change and clean energy solutions. He also serves as the Chief Youth Innovator for the Reserve Protection Agency in South Africa, helping to protect Africa's beautiful animals. Scribner has also partnered with the Tom's of Maine Incubator, a seven-month program that provides recourses to the next generation of BIPOC environmental leaders. In November 2019, he was also honored by the National Foster Youth Institute for his work raising awareness about underserved foster youth.
