Martha Lane Fox Biography

Martha Lane Fox co-founded "Lastminute.com" in 1998 with Brent Hoberman, establishing what would become Europe’s largest travel and leisure website. The company went public in 2000 and was sold in 2005. Beyond her entrepreneurial success, she serves as a non-executive director at Marks & Spencer and previously held similar roles at Channel 4 and MyDeco.com. Additionally, she co-founded Lucky Voice in 2005, which transformed the karaoke industry with its venues and online presence, and in 2007, she initiated Antigone, a grant-giving foundation.

As the UK Government’s Digital Inclusion Champion since June 2009, Fox has played a pivotal role in digital advocacy, including founding the Race Online 2012 campaign. In March 2010, she was responsible for establishing the Digital Public Services Unit within the Cabinet Office, where she also sits on the Efficiency and Reform Board. Her contributions to the digital economy and charity earned her the title of Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2013 New Year Honors.

In 2013, Fox was appointed a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, becoming its youngest female member at the time. The following year, she became Chancellor of the Open University. In 2015, following her influential Dimbleby lecture, she founded Doteveryone.org.uk, a charity focused on creating a fairer internet. She continues to lead as the chair of Lucky Voice and plays a significant role in various digital and charitable initiatives.
