Michele Bratcher Goodwin Biography
Michele Bratcher Goodwin holds the position of Linda D. & Timothy J. O’Neill Professor of Constitutional Law and Global Health Policy at Georgetown University Law Center, a step forward from her previous role as a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine, and founding director of the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy. She was also the 2021-2022 Provost’s Distinguished Visiting Faculty Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. She continues to be a valued contributor in her field, receiving accolades such as the American Bar Association’s Margaret Brent Award and the University of California's highest honor, the Distinguished Senior Faculty Award for Research.
In addition to her extensive academic career, Goodwin is an author, with her award-winning book "Policing The Womb: Invisible Women and The Criminalization of Motherhood" gaining considerable recognition. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute and works as an Adviser for the American Law Institute’s Restatement Third of Torts: Remedies. Furthermore, she is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Hastings Center, diligently contributing to the development of bioethics.
