Nina Easton has conducted compelling one-on-one interviews on stage with leading CEO's and political figures--including Condoleeza Rice, Hillary Clinton , Lawrence Summers, Meg Whitman and Olympia Snowe. She is routinely called upon to moderate panels with leading business and government officials--at Fortune events, the Harvard Kennedy School (where she served as a 2012 fellow) and other name-brand gatherings. She is skilled at keeping the on-stage conversation lively, evocative, and compelling while also bringing in voices from the audience.
Impactful Storytelling: Nina is the founding partner and Co-CEO of SellersEaston Media, a multimedia firm dedicated to telling the leadership stories of prominent people, companies, and organizations making an impact.
Government & Global Politics: Drawing from her extensive career as a political historian and Washington editor at Fortune, Nina covers the intersection of politics, diplomacy, and global leadership.
Women's Leadership: As the chair of Fortune Most Powerful Women International and host of "Smart Women, Smart Power," Nina speaks on the empowerment of women in leadership across sectors.
The U.S. Economy and Business: With her background as a national columnist covering the economy, she addresses U.S. economic trends, corporate leadership, and market dynamics.
The American Conservative Movement: She discusses political history, with a focus on the conservative movement, based on her bestselling book Gang of Five.
I very much appreciated Nina Easton's willingness to participate in preparation calls for sessions for which she served as moderator and her time on site with final pre-event preparation and daily check-ins. Jay Semla, Society of Actuaries

ReFocus is an educational and networking conference for executives of the life insurance industry. It began in 2007 with approximately 290 attendees, mostly from reinsurance companies. During the 13 years of its existence, ReFocus grew by concentrating on the life insurance industry in general as opposed to solely reinsurance, expanding to include international topics, recruiting CEOs to populate most of the discussion panels, increasing opportunities for networking and becoming more “classy” by employing a professional moderator.
The conference’s first moderator was Bill Press. Not only is he known as a White House correspondent for CNN, but also as an author, moderator for the well-regarded political tv show called Crossfire and host of his own radio show. Bill began without knowing anything about insurance and grew into ReFocus’ beloved host. Last year, the ReFocus programming committee decided to get a “fresh face” for the conference’s host.
We decided to engage Nina Easton because of her adept interviewing style, her connection with leading politicians and past media work. While we were excited to welcome Nina to the conference, there were some concerns from the committee members because the life insurance industry is quite technical – not something easily learned in a few weeks.
What first impressed me about Nina was her preparation. In our preliminary calls, she was inquisitive, took detailed notes and studied hard. This was apparent from future calls where her knowledge of the industry continued to expand. At the conference, Nina can always be seen carrying notes, reading notes or taking notes. I can only imagine that it must be daunting to address an audience of 800 people that are absolute experts in a field that your barely understand. If it was for Nina, I could not detect it. She fulfilled the hosting role with a smooth style that will only improve as she gets to know the audience, topics and people better.
However, it was the two sessions that we asked her to moderate that impressed me the most. Nina has a natural curiosity that comes across as conversational as opposed to scripted. She never lets the panelists get off with a high-level comment. Instead, she follows up with deeper questions that hit the core of the topic. Nina obviously prepared well and even read a 20-page paper the evening before one of her interviews in order to go a bit “off script” which greatly improved the session.
While we do not yet have the audience survey responses back, I fully expect her to receive the highest grades. She will certainly receive that from me as Co-Chair of the programming committee. We would be honored to have her back and hope that she has an even more successful run as the ReFocus Host than Bill Press. Most importantly to me, Nina and I connected well and I hope that she will become a “business friend”. I would recommend her highly for any moderation or interviewing role and I am happy to act as a personal reference.
