Rip Michaels Biography

Winner of the 2013 Bay Area Black Comedy Competition, two time Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Comedian of the Year, American Comic Awards - College Entertainer of the Year, USO and MWR Comedian of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2011… just a few of the well deserved accolades for the talented Rip Micheals. And with writing for Anthony Anderson, Cedric The Entertainer, Brandon T. Jackson, Nick Cannon and Johnny Depp, and stand-up performances alongside some of the biggest names in the industry including Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence, and Bernie Mac, it’s easy to see why Rip Micheals is a rising star, quickly becoming known as a comedy triple threat (stand-up/writing/acting).

A native of Chicago, Rip Micheals now lives in the big apple and is considered to be one of New York’s Kings of Comedy. One of the hardest working comics in the business, Rip has performed at over 30 military bases, more than 200 colleges and universities, and countless comedy clubs around the world. On the concert side, he has opened for several major tours including Lady GaGa, Drake, Rihanna, The Scream Tour (Bow Wow), and the Watch The Throne Tour (Jay Z and Kanye West)… just to name a few.

Now having caught the attention of major TV networks, Rip can be seen in his second season as a cast member (and first season as writer) on Nick Cannon presents Wild ‘N Out on MTV2. His first 30-minute Wild ‘N Out Stand Up Special aired in December 2014 and was the highest rated in the history of MTV2. Rip was a featured performer on the recently aired Centric Comedy All-Stars. His other TV credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Nurse Jackie, Showtime at the Apollo, 106 & Park (Wild Out Wednesday Champion), BET Comic View, HBO Bad Boys of Comedy, Starz in Black, StaannDUP!, AXS TV Live at Gotham hosted by Louis Anderson, and cast member on According to Him + Her on BET and Centric.

Rip has also appeared in the movies Love Don’t Cost a Thing, Men in Black 3 and Playas Ball. So what’s next for Rip Micheals? Currently he’s on Anthony Anderson’s Blackish Comedy Tour, filming the Spike Lee executive produced and Alex Wright directed The Lucky Guy, has a reoccurring roll on Comedians of LA on Oxygen and Esquire networks, and will be seen in Craig Robinson’s upcoming NBC series Mr. Robinson. Beyond that? If his talent, work ethic and passion are any indication, there is no limit to how bright this young star will shine.
