Simon Schama Biography
An English historian and television presenter, Simon Schama is renowned for his specialization in art history, Dutch history, Jewish history, and French history. His academic pursuits led him to the prestigious Professor of History and Art History role at Columbia University. He has also held the title of Mellon Professor of History at Harvard University. Schama first garnered public attention with his history of the French Revolution, "Citizens," which went on to win the 1990 NCR Book Award.
His expertise in various historical periods led him to host the 15-part BBC television documentary series "A History of Britain." Schama continued to make his mark in the television industry by hosting other documentary series such as "The American Future: A History" and "The Story of the Jews." His contributions to the field of history and television have been recognized through the Wolfson History Prize and the Leo Gershoy Award. He has also been knighted in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours List and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
