Jon Fortt Biography
Jon Fortt is a prominent journalist who co-anchors CNBC's "Closing Bell: Overtime" and has previously served as the host of "TechCheck" and "Squawk Alley," where he covered the latest in technology and business trends. Fortt is also the creator and host of the digital show Fortt Knox, which features in-depth one-on-one interviews with founders, CEOs and innovators. The show evolved into a video interview series focused on leadership, technology, and innovation. In 2020, he created The Black Experience in America: The Course, an online resource for exploring history and culture.
Earlier, Fortt served as an on-air editor based at CNBC’s global headquarters. He joined CNBC as technology correspondent in July 2010, where he became known for his insightful coverage of Silicon Valley's startups and the key trends shaping the future of technology.
Before joining CNBC, Fortt worked as a senior writer for Fortune magazine, covering tech giants like Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard. His career began at the San Jose Mercury News, and he also served as a senior editor for Business 2.0. At CNBC, Fortt became known for his insightful coverage of Silicon Valley's startups and the key trends shaping the future of technology There he contributed to several efforts that won awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
Fortt graduated from DePauw University as a Media Fellow, with a BA in English.
