Ty Murray will be speaking about his young life growing up poor on the horse race track in AZ and NM. He will share his journey through Little Britches, High-School, College and then to professional rodeo. He will talk about his dream of beating Larry Mahan’s record for All-Around Championships and his quite unusual training under Larry. He will share how he won 6 All around Championships (1 away from his goal of beating Larry) and then being sidelined for 3 years because of injury. During this time he had just purchased a 1,800 acre ranch and had to figure out how to continue paying for it. He will talk about coming back from injury to win his 7th All-Around championship of which he still holds the record for the rough-stock All Around Champion. He will share how he co-founded the PBR and the journey and challenges from starting this organization from the ground up. Finally he will talk about his own ranching experience and owning a cow/calf operation in Stephenville, TX.

Ty Murray was an excellent speaker to lead in to our night time activity at the San Antonio Rodeo. Everyone I talked to really enjoyed learning about his life, the progression of his career, and the intricacies of a professional bull rider. For most of us, it literally was our first rodeo.
