Jim Brazell is a technology forecaster, public speaker, and strategist known for his focus on 21st-century themes and opportunities in emerging technologies. Since 2003, he has authored numerous technology forecasts and briefs on subjects ranging from economic recovery to educational innovation, and has collaborated on international technology strategies in Portugal and the U.S. His work includes several notable technology forecasts for the Innovation Creativity and Capital Institute and the Texas State Technical College Program for Emerging Technologies.
Jim's speaking engagements are diverse and have included prestigious venues such as the Chautauqua Institute, Casey Journalism Center for Children and Families, International Conference on Technology Policy and Innovation, National School Board Association, and many others. Jim graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bradley University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and was a George Gilder Fellow in High Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Public Policy in 1994. Alongside his educational background, Jim's advisory role was recognized in October 2009 when his insights on STEM were presented to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). His ongoing collaboration with Dr. (Col.) Francis X. "Duke" Kane has led to initiatives like spaceTEAMS in San Antonio, Texas, aiming to inspire future Mars astronauts and engage with the US Air Force Association Cyber Patriot national hacker competition.
